The Attitude of Attitudes
by Cynthia Jennings on May 1, 2019The Attitude of Attitudes
What encompasses your attitude? Do you have a disposition described as mean, bossy, flip mouth? Or is your disposition described as calm, slow to speak, pleasant to be around? Our attitude often determines how or if someone is willing to deal with us. With that being said. How does God view our attitude? And how should He deal with us based off our attitude? HMMMM!!
We often say, “I want everything God has for me.” But does your life reflect the attitude that says “I want everything God has for me?” Is your attitude causing you to settle for so much less than God’s very best for your life?
You see I’m not just talking about your exterior attitude. I’m referring to the attitude of the heart. It is one thing for us to say how much we love God through His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit is leading our life. But does our attitude mirror our words? The attitude of the heart is the attitude of attitudes needed to match our words with our actions. Acquiring the attitude of attitudes must accompany an understanding that God loves to pour out His blessings on His children. YESSS, blessings!!! It is unfortunate that blessings are initially thought of as something tangibly measured so others can see how blessed you are. But I’m here to share with you when you have the attitude of attitudes the blessings you should look forward to receiving are spiritual blessing that will draw you closer to knowing who God is. Spiritual blessings are God’s gift waiting to be showered on you. Yet we make it seem almost impossible to receive and experience, simply because we have the wrong attitude. God is just waiting for us to seek Him through Jesus Christ. To listen to His voice and then to follow Him by the guidance of The Holy Spirit. But this experience can only be enjoyed if you have the attitude of attitudes.
Think about the attitude you have when you know someone has a present waiting for you. You usually display an attitude that is pleasant, ready and willing to receive the gift. But you also are expecting the gift giver to display an attitude that is pleasant, ready and willing to release the gift. However, if the gift giver and receiver display an attitude that is less than pleasant. The experience of receiving the gift is not enjoyable. God is the gift giver, ready and willing to release. You are the gift receiver. Will your attitude prevent you from experiencing the full delight of enjoying God’s gift of spiritual blessings?
PearlstoPonder: Daily check of our external attitude is good. But minute by minute check of our internal attitude is vital for spiritual survival.
James 4:6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
James 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
Colossians 3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.
